Hi owners - I wanted to provide a few quick offerings as we gear up for the season below - let me know if you have any questions (and yes, this email is what happens when my meeting gets cancelled unexpectedly).
League Payment:Thanks to two incredibly responsible owners who have already paid, this is a reminder that league entry fee is $100 and is due by the conclusion of Week 2 of the season (Monday, September 18th). Lucky for you all, I am becoming more sophisticated, and can receive payment via paypal (danreilly712@gmail.com), venmo (danreilly712), or cash/check (429 Ingraham Street NW, Washington, DC 20011).
Payouts:First place will receive $800 (or 57%); second place will receive $200 (or 14%), third place will receive $125 (9%); and, fourth place will receive $75 (5%). Additionally, both division winners will receive $100 as a bonus for their successful regular seasons.
Draft:Reminder that the draft is Wednesday, August 24th at 8:30 PM Eastern Time. I'd recommend testing software on your computers in case of any issues beforehand. The draft will be an auction-style draft, where individual owners have 30 seconds to nominate players for the league to bid on. I unfortunately can't set up the order of owners to nominate, or shorten the 30 second nomination period (sorry Pete). Each team will have a $300 budget (MINUS cost for keepers), and bidding on players begins at $1.
Draft Salaries - Post Keepers:Mostly because I'm interested, here's the current salaries for each team for the budget post-keepers -
Team& Auction Budget
Boonton $250
Chaos$277
Dorne$217
FYUC$238
STABS$216
Minnella$253
Motley$218
NoName$240
PMRBH$263
Ponyboys$215
SCSA$273
TBG$279
TdR$218
VC2.0$280
2018 Keepers:Just as a reminder, the league voted to expand to three keepers, starting in 2018. For clarity's sake, keeper salaries are based on the amount a keeper is DRAFTED at (not their free agency waiver bid cost). As an example, if owner A drafts Leonard Fournette at $4, waives him, and owner B picks him up on the waiver wire auction with a bid of $20, Fournette's 2018 Keeper salary would be $14 ($4 2017 draft cost + $10 tax). Not a big deal per se, but want to make sure folks are mindful of this delineation.
Additionally, 2017 keepers on your roster today can be kept for an additional $10 in 2018 - for example, Makese kept Stephen Gostowski, New England's kicker, for 2017 at $22 (no, seriously). Makese can keep him for an additional $10 in 2018, but not for a third consecutive season. If a 2017 keeper finds themselves on a new team via trade or waiver, their keeper status would increase back to two additional seasons. For example, when Makese drops Gostowski and Toby picks him up for the remainder of 2017, Toby can have the option of keeping Gostowski for 2018 at $32 and 2019 at $42 (which is very much a Toby move).
Season Schedule:
To keep everything somewhat balanced, divisions were drawn at random and, since we now only have 13 regular season weeks, the schedule was drawn up to ensure each team faces the remaining 13 teams once throughout the regular season. As a reminder, two division winners + the next top 6 teams regardless of division make the playoffs (FWIW, Toby, Carlos, and Stabs are probably already done this season).
Key Deadlines/Transaction Items:Some helpful details for your planning purposes are below.
Waiver wire - Once the draft is complete, the waiver wire is open; in place of a traditional waiver wire, free agent player acquisitions will be made three times each week at 12:00 PM Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturdayand Sunday (beginning in 2017 season) and each eligible player (both free agents and recently dropped players) will go to the team with the highest bidder. Minimum bids for acquisitions is $5, and each team has a $300 free agent acquisition budget for the year. There are no limits on the number of free agent acquisitions.
Trade Deadline - There are unlimited trades in the league and the league deadline is December 1st. Each trade will have a one-day review process, and 10 teams must oppose a specific trade for that trade to be vetoed.
2018 Keepers Deadline - Any player eligible for 2018 keeper status must be on your roster for the beginning of Week 14.
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.
