Owner Profile: Lights, Kamara, Action!

What makes #GMRRFFA so fantastic is its owners, a group of Riff Raff that have made the league one of the most exciting things out there in the #fantasyfootball world.

Every few weeks, we spend some time getting to know some of you, because understanding the psychology of owners may not be useful, but it sure is entertaining. With that in mind, I’m happy to share some of the insights of one of our best – Lights, Kamara, Action! (@EricLGarcia) – own Purveyor of Death.

Q: How many fantasy football leagues do you play in currently?

A: Currently this is the only league that I participate in. First time in years that i’m only in 1, and I kind of like it.

Q: How much time do you dedicate to fantasy football, and the #GMRRFFA league specifically?

A: I stay home with the kids, so my morning routine is to get up around 6:45, get my coffee and sit down and watch Good Morning Football until the kids get up. 11:00 Fantasy Focus podcast starts on Twitter. From 12-5 I usually catch up on the Fantasy Show and my podcasts I listen to, every day is different depending on the little ones. 5-6 is NFL Network'ss fantasy show, try to catch that when I can. In between all of this, I am dealing with the madness of having a 5 and 2 year old. So to answer the question, way too much.

Q: What's the biggest obstacle to you engaging more in fantasy football?

A: Definitely the kids, I love them to death but they are way harder than the job I left (Commissioner's Note: Preach!). When I had my desk job, I definitely had more time to dedicate to Fantasy. Just look at Tito Galen and Mark 😁.

Q: What would you tell someone who asked about #GMRRFFA?

A: I would tell them that this is the best league that I have been a part of. Between all the crazy in WhatsApp [group chat], the League page and Twitter, I stay pretty entertained. I love all the content that the owners provide, especially our second-to-none Commish.

Q: What's the inspiration for your #GMRRFFA Team name?

A: Obviously just a play on Kamara’s name. I actually thought about changing it to Run CMc for the simple fact that every time, I think of my current name, it reminds me of the Wiggles. Sure you dads out there get the reference, if not, consider yourself lucky.

Q: What #GMRRFFA moment stands out as the best since you've joined the league?

A: I would have to go with being able to witness the love affair that has blossomed between Mark and Smeet, It just melts my heart. In all seriousness I would say the Commish starting the league. We were both in the same league, with Mark prior to this. Some collusion went down in the playoffs and here we are.

Q: What is your strategy when preparing for an upcoming #GMRRFFA season?

A: I usually find rankings from one of the fantasy experts I like and go from there, also listen to lots of podcasts. Usually eliminate any player I’m not high on from my board and see what happens in our draft.

Q: Who would you consider your league rival and why?

A: Probably Mark and the Commissioner, we go back to 2010, in the IBT league. I know I have had some pretty epic battles with both.

Q: Since you've been in #GMRRFFA, which roster decision are you most proud of and why?

A: Definitely getting Kamara in a trade last year and being able to have him the next few years for next to nothing.

Q: Who do you think will win the 2018 title and why?

A: Hopefully, me, I know my bench is a work in progress, but I feel like I have a good amount of homerun hitters. Just got to pray the injury bug doesn’t bite and that my team doesn’t shit the bed in the playoffs.

Why Smeet?

Q: Which team do you think will place last in the 2018 season and why?

A: So far, it’s looking like Bad Journey, sorry Smeet (see right). But 169 total points scored after 2 weeks doesn’t bode well for the 2019 Champ.

Q: While every other league is already inferior, what do you enjoy most elsewhere that you'd enjoy in the league?

A: I do miss IDP scoring even though it can be very unpredictable (Commissioner's Note: IDP is stupid). But mostly I would like deeper benches.

Q: What else would you want to share about the league?

A: That it’s the most fun I have had since starting fantasy football 20 years ago. I know I am not the most active person in our chat but I do enjoy every minute of the back-and-forth between everyone. Also, love the addition of trading future draft dollars, makes prepping for next season very interesting.

Q: In your opinion, what's the most underrated food?

A: Gonna go with Cereal, I eat it for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Who couldn’t go for a big bowl of Pop’s or Captain Crunch at 11 pm?

Q: If you were to get rid of 1 state in the US, which one and why?

A: Tough call, I would say Illinois, seriously, way to fuck up Pizza Chicago.

Q: A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

A: It’s not really a penguin, just my delivery driver with my Tamales. I’m just really high, damn Sour Diesel.
