Quick Week 2 Recap

Writer: The CommishThe Commish

Hi Owners -

Week 2 is officially in the books and, as I mentioned post-draft, parity among teams is already fairly apparent. Through just 2 weeks, we only have 4 undefeated teams - only one really seems to be a monster at this point - and only 4 winless teams, some of whom are not surprising at all (sorry Matty and Toby) and some are (Eric Garcia!!! Damn).

It's official that Kareem Hunt is the reincarnation of Jim Brown combined with Marshall Faulk, chalking up an impressive 73.5 points over the first two weeks of the season, an average 36+ points per game. By comparison, in 2016, David Johnson was the highest RB by average at just 26.2 points per game, and Aaron Rodgers only averaged 29 points per week as the top-rated quarterback. If Hunt keeps this up, the season will already be over as the Big Gronkowski will be a cash cow winning every week while remaining incredible humble and self-defecating throughout the process...**  For what its worth, if you had told me that Alex Smith, Trevor Seimien, and Carson Wentz would be the top 3 quarterbacks through 2 weeks during the run-up to the season, I would have scoffed, but it's true (it's damn true) which hurts my head thinking about it. Also, at some point, we may need to start feeling bad for Toby, the much-maligned and socially unconscionable owner of the POTUS Attention Span Warriors (or something), who lost in both match-ups this season by a combined 2.9 points!  By comparison, the closest single match-up loss otherwise this season came when Silvio lost by 3.2 points this weekend... Feel bad for Toby like an ape in the zoo (ie from afar because if you touched him you'd probably be patient zero for some global epidemic).

In addition, Matt added a Week 2 contribution to his season-long essay entitled "The Trade that Wasn't: Naysayers Revenge." You should check it out on the message board and much love to Coop for giving the first rendition a full and thoughtful analysis last week.

A point of personal privilege; mad props to ALL league owners for paying dues with minimal harassment. Its greatly appreciated and reflects at least an appreciation for the league and your co-owners, plus ensures division winners and final placewinners will get their well-deserved payouts without me chasing outstanding moneys so an actual and legit Thanks!

On another note, myself and two additional owners (no names included as it is a private event) will be exploring a potential European league expansion trip for two weeks starting this week, meaning:

  1. These highly-regarded  weekly recaps may not happen for Weeks 3 and 4;

  2. My trade offers to you may not be as voracious;

  3. I will likely be adding a top WR and RB via trade for chump change over the course of the next two weeks, so let me just defend the trades now by saying: "We're grown-ups and can decide how we want to manage rosters without the input of disgruntled owners elsewhere in this league. My package to those owners is solid so don't tell me otherwise because i do my research, and risk is a part of fantasy football so if said owner(s) want to make that trade, its going to be ok."

Top Score of the Week: 153.4 (The Big Gronkowski)Lowest Score of the Week: 90.6 (A Song of Matty Ice and Fire) (Also, I get mad shit for my trade offers, but when is this league going to identify the most egregious trade offer culprit, Eric Garcia??? All i know is i learned this nefarious activity from him!!! (nothing but love Eric).) Ciao, Dan ** reverse jinx is in the works here
